The Laurel Highlands High School "Mustang" Marching Band formed in 1966 after the merger of North Union and South Union High Schools.  The first Director of Bands was Richard "Mac" McCoy.  Mr. McCoy served as the band director for 33 years.

The band has had 5 sets of uniforms, 4 directors and performed all over the east coast including Canada.  The largest LH Band was over 150 members in the 1978-1979 season.
The Laurel Highlands Band is a proud representative of the Laurel Highlands School District
and the surrounding communities including North Union, South Union Townships and Hopwood Pennsylvania.
The LH bands regularly appear at school football games, local festivals, parades, and at various concerts held at Laurel Highlands High School.
